The task: design a new paper train ticket for Dutch railway operator NS that is visually pleasing, visually distinct, and reflects what is most important to passengers.

In designing the ticket, I considered the necessities of passengers and the important information they need. The ticket provides the information for passengers to find their train and their seat. The journey layout of trip details presents information in the order a passenger needs it. After arriving at the station, they will find their track, train, class, car, and their seat. Finally, they are given information about their destination, including arrival time and arrival platform. I placed track information directly next to the station name to avoid the possibility of the passenger accidentally going to the track for the arrival city instead of the departure city. Trip information is presented between the departure and arrival city information, making it easy for the passenger to locate the information they need along their journey by simply reading in order. The journey layout provides flexibility for trips with multiple legs, should such tickets be issued in the future.
